Sustainability at Abama Resort

Our values

The definition of sustainability has expanded. The need to care for our natural environment remains stronger than ever, but true sustainability also encompasses economic, social, and cultural factors. We hope to inspire people to enjoy their leisure time more conscientiously, while working together for constant improvement.

Abama Blue Ocean

For over a year we have worked with local marine photographers and scientists on Abama Blue Ocean, a photographic homage to the inhabitants of the Franja Marina Teno-Rasca. This strip of ocean between Tenerife and La Gomera is the most important whale sanctuary in Europe and a singular ecosystem we must protect.

The Abama Green Team

In 2021, Guía de Isora and Tenerife were named Biosphere Certified Destinations by the Responsible Tourism Institute, verifying their commitment to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and the Guidelines of the Paris Climate Summit.

Abama is committed to a holistic concept of sustainability, and every year we set sustainability goals for every part of the resort. The Abama Green Team is responsible for this planning, and also plans sustainability actions in concert with other stakeholders on the island.

Photovoltaic installation for shared self-consumption in anthropized spaces

Abama has received a grant from the Canary Islands Government's Department of Ecological Transition and Energy to promote photovoltaic generation in anthropized areas, within the framework of the Sustainable Strategy for the Canary Islands, under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Component 7, Investment 2).

Our project is part of the call for proposals to promote photovoltaic generation in anthropized areas, specifically in investment line 1 for the promotion of renewable energies.

The actions to be carried out will involve the installation of 832 photovoltaic panels of 585 wp with a total collector area of 2,200 m² and 487 Kwp of installed power, complemented by storage using lithium batteries with a storage capacity of 838 Kwh.

The amount of aid granted totals €774,648, with a total investment of €1,106,640.

The main objective of the aid is to promote the decarbonization of the Canary Islands' electricity system, thereby rationalizing public spending and taking advantage of the exemplary nature of this measure. This transformation aims to have an incentive effect on other sectors.
