Abama Resort in Guia de Isora, October

Though our weather remains as gorgeous as always, October represents a slight turning away from the sun and sand of the summer and towards the more interior pursuits of art and culture. From expos to festivals to concerts, Tenerife’s indoor activities begin to come alive this month.

1. World Tourism Day in Guía de Isora

1st of October
Saturday, 9h-14h

Guía de Isora joins in on the celebration of this international tourism day with its own programme of sport, culture and outdoor activities. From folk music to children’s workshops to walking tours, there’s something for everyone. Some activities require prior registration and are located off-site, so check the programme before the 1st of October.

2. Georges Méliès Exposition

5th of July – 15th of October
Monday – Friday, 11h-14h and 17h-20h
Saturday, 10h-14h

Georges Méliès, the eclectic and prolific artist known as one of the founders of modern cinema, continues to fascinate even today. Whether a drawing, object or filmic archive, everything that Méliès touched seems to contain a bit of magic. The Cinémathèque Française has collaborated with the CajaCanarias Cultural Space to display some of Méliès most interesting objects, and the expo is in its last days. Hurry over if you haven’t yet had the chance to drop in.

Abama’s residents are probably among the most well travelled citizens of the world, so this event might be of particular interest. Puerto de la Cruz, on the north shore of Tenerife, puts forth this interesting cultural proposition in celebration of the literature surrounding travel and adventure. These will be days filled with talks, expos, street art, workshops and more, so plan a day trip to the north of the island.

While we can’t run to the capital every day, this concert on the 21st is sure to fascinate through its combination of Canary Island folklore and traditional and modern instruments.
