This month brings festivals, wine, and the chance to get outdoors and breathe in the Tenerife spring. Two of our suggested events will be running all month long, so get out your calendars and plan a day trip or two when it suits you.
1. Wine Month in Tegueste
1st – 30th of April
April brings the 11th celebration of Wine Month in Tegueste, a mix of events including tapas and wine tastings, walking tours and concerts. Every weekend in April offers unique programming in addition to the ongoing Wine & Tapas Route, for which dozens of local restaurants have prepared artisanal offerings. 2. Naturajazz Festival 2016
7th of April – 26th of May
The Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre hosts a unique festival over the coming months, featuring weekly jazz concerts on Thursdays accompanied by the work of selected nature photographers. Wednesdays and some Tuesdays will also feature master classes on a variety of photography topics such as underwater and landscape photography. Consult the full program for specific details.

3. VI Canary Island Cheese Fair / IV Cheese Competition Tenerife
9th of April (10h) – 10th of April (20h)
The second weekend in April is the VI Canary Island Cheese Fair and the IV Cheese Competition Tenerife, another wonderful opportunity to sample the variety of incredible cheeses produced locally in the Canaries. This is a great excuse for a day trip to another part of the island, with the promise of a tasty reward at the end of your journey.

4. XI Edition of the Brother Peter Peregrination
16th of April
Points of departure from Vilaflor, San Miguel de Abona, Charco del Pino, Granadilla de Abona, San Isidro and El Médano
The 16th of April will be the 11th annual “Ruta ‘Camino del Hermano Pedro’”, a chance to join thousands of people on a gorgeous hike in the province of Chasna. The route is actually a group of historical routes, of which the principal is said to be that used by Saint Peter to drive his flock up the hill to his cave when he was a pastor. Don’t miss a chance to enjoy this collective experience through these trails rehabilitated only 10 years ago.

5. Family Workshop at the Tenerife Opera
16th and 17th of April
16h-19h (Saturday) and 11h-14h (Sunday)
Introducing children to opera can be a challenge, but the rewards are many for young adults that come to appreciate the art form. The Tenerife Opera has devised a series of family workshops designed to foment interest amongst youngsters, and they will offer one the third weekend of April focusing on their new production, Rinaldo.
