1. Canary Island Artisanal Fair

3rd – 6th of December, 11h-21h (Free entry)

This year marks the 31st annual Canary Island Artisanal Fair and it will be celebrated at the Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz. You’ll have the opportunity to observe the work and process of over 140 local artisans, from ironworkers to potters to woodworkers, as well as purchase their wares. It’s the perfect spot to find the unique gifts you’ve been looking for.

2. “Tapeando Isora” Tapas Tour, Guía de Isora

3rd – 5th of December

Don’t miss the last few days of the 6th edition of this local gastronomic tour, ending on the 6th of December. Jump into one of the 28 participating restaurants and taverns on Thursday, Friday or Saturday and you’ll get a featured tapa and a beverage for just 2.50€. 3. Grupo Cantares: Vocal Performance

6th of December, 19h

This group of 5 male voices from the University of Colima in Mexico offers a unique take on international music from Mexican folklore to boleros to ballads. Accompanied by Quintero on the piano, this is sure to be an interesting alternative addition to the available holiday performances.

4. The Moscow Ballet: Dance/Theatre

7th of December, 20:30h – Swan Lake
8th of December, 20:30h – The Nutcracker

There’s no more traditional way to ring in the holidays than with one of Tchaikovsky’s most performed classics, Swan Lake or The Nutcracker. The Moscow Ballet’s Winter Tour brings them to the Guimerá Theatre for two days in early December, and these are performances you won’t want to miss.

5. Classical performances from the Tenerife Opera

12th of December, 20:30h – Maria Estuardo

Donizetti’s classic opera makes an appearance at the Tenerife Auditorium this December, or you can choose to buy your tickets early for Massenet’s Werther, being performed from the 12th-18th of March. 6. Jubilation Gospel Choir singing Christmas for Ray Charles

13th of December, 20h (Entry 23€)

This incredible gospel choir hailing from Montreal, Canada, was the winner of a Grammy in 2010 for the album they made with Queen Latifah, and they were the last group to record with the legendary Ray Charles. This performance will include Christmas classics such as “The First Noel” and “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing”, as well as pay tribute to Charles’s life and music. Tickets available through the Tenerife Auditorium.

7. Tenerife Shorts: International Short Film Festival

17th – 20th of December, 18h

The Tenerife Shorts International Film Festival brings together nearly 100 short films from all parts of the world for exhibition in the Guimerá Theatre this December. Its objective is to showcase the best of the best in new international short films, and with more than 1,300 applications and submissions, this was surely no easy task.

8. Santa Cruz Christmas Market

It’s not Christmas without at least one pass through the Santa Cruz Christmas Mercadillo, where you’ll discover a range of artisanal products including jewelry, leather goods, bags and more. Spend some time there with your family perusing the wares and sampling the turrones and roasted potatoes, and go home with special gifts only available in Tenerife.

9. Prado Museum Collections: Art Exhibit

14th of October – 16th of January

The CajaCanarias Cultural Space has recently opened a visiting collection from the Prado, “Los objetos hablan”, including 60 pieces by such artists as Goya, Rubens, Ribera, Zurbarán, Sorolla and Murillo. The exhibit is a unique opportunity to see these 16th-19th century works up close in an intimate environment.

10. Guided Nativity Scene Tours

9th of December – 5th of January, 10h

If your holidays aren’t complete without nativity scenes, head to La Orotava, where you can either peruse the town’s best on your own or take the guided tours, a new offer this year. The tours will offer some history on the development of nativity scenes, facts about places featured on the route like the San Agustín Church or the Town Plaza, and a look at the different genres of nativity scenes and the materials used to construct them.
